A show with a positive Christian message
Lee Friend-Blignaut has, together with a few family and friends, put together a gospel production for Boksburg, which they will stage every Friday and Saturday for the month of October.
In Boksburg, there are a few places that provide live entertainment, but Friend-Blignaut feels that there is a need for a Christian production with a positive message.
She says after deciding to put the production together, that she spent three weeks listening to various gospel genres and songs before even coming up with the concept of the concert.
“After the three weeks of conceptualising the idea, we (the band) came together to start practising and that took us another four weeks,” she says.
“It’s well produced, rehearsed and directed and includes a bit of comedy as well.”
She explains that what makes the production special is that, unlike many staged productions, it’s all live with no backing tracks.
The community theatre produced mini-concert features impressive musical talent and a handful of good songs.
Lee has her whole family involved in the production, with her husband Kelvin Blignaut being in charge of the sound and lights, and her 16-year-old son as the youngest band member in the performing group.
“It’s all good quality Christian music with popular songs that people can sing along to,” says Friend-Blignaut.
This is the first production held at the Brandpundt Theatre at the Denel office park in Impala Park, on De Haviland Avenue.
