Thousands raised for cancer

Cupcakes of Hope, hosted the second annual National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer, on Saturday, September 28.

This non-profit organisation holds various events during the year, but their main event is hosting South Africa’s National Cupcake Day 4 Kids with Cancer in September as part of is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The national event is a community-driven project and an event aimed at bringing the whole community together for a good cause.

The funds raised by selling cupcakes will be used to help give a child a fighting chance against cancer.

Cupcake for Hope invited all avid bakers to become Cupcake Angels by baking and donating 48 cupcakes to the event and East Rand bakers responded in their numbers.

By donating R5, members of the public were able to receive one of the beautiful cupcakes baked by the Cupcake Angels.

As part of the Cancer Awareness Campaign, the organisation also handed out leaflets with the early childhood cancer warning signs.

If a child is diagnosed early enough, they have a better chance of fighting and beating the disease.
