Funds raised for Rally for South Africa exceeds R1-million

The Tokeneke Club in the US is continuing in doing a great job of raising funds for St Francis Care Centre in Boksburg.

Boksburg is the hometown of head tennis professional of Tokeneke John Hammill.

Support for the “Rally for South Africa” programme has been energised as it is Hammill’s last of 37 years at Tokeneke.

In commemorating Hammill’s service, the club held two fundraising events.

The result was an excellent participation rate, with over 35 women partaking in the September 13 fundraiser, along with a robust and energetic kids’ fundraiser.

“Once again, with the gracious support of an anonymous donor, we received a R50 000 matching fund donation if we could raise over R50 000 in these two events,” said an anonymous club member.

“I’m very pleased to say that we exceeded the target and successfully raised over R100 000. This brings the grand total of all funds raised since the programme began to over R1-m.”

The Hammil’s plan to visit SA’s shores later this year to witness work done by St Francis.
