Roteract cleans up at awards

At the awards, held at Vanderbijlpark, the club swept the board by walking away with nine shining awards, including The Rotaract Club of the Year.

“We are delighted about our awards and consider them achievements in the life of our club.

“We are inspired by our fellow Rotaract clubs in the district and plan to go bigger and better in the year ahead,” says Jessica Jones, vice-president of the local Roteract Club.

The club took home the awards for Club Citations, The Best Community Project Award, Rotaract Awareness, Rotaract Club Spirit and DRR Citations.

“The Service above Self Award was awarded to Rotarator Taryn Camden-Smith for all her efforts of going above and beyond just being involved in the club’s community projects, and for her constant dedication to our club,” says Jones.

The club was also honoured with the Best Sponsoring Rotary Club Award and The Mike Foreman Rotaract Club of the Year Floating Trophy.

“In winning this award, the Rotaract Club of Boksburg Lake will receive a donation from their Rotary District 9400 to put towards a community project of their choice, in honour of Mike Foreman,” adds Jones.

Boksburg Lake Rotary president Damian Lahoud and Rotarator, Nicola Fox, added to the list of awards by winning in the best dressed category.

“What makes our club special is that we are not just unified as a club, but also that we are all friends and work as a team.

“Our primary plan for the year ahead is to continue with our existing projects as well as raise more awareness about Roteract,” says Jones.

The Roteract Club of Boksburg Lake to invites all young adults between the ages of 18 to 30 to join them in making a difference while having fun and making new friends.

The objective of the club is to assist with the community’s physical and social needs.
