Raising awareness against abuse

Representatives from People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA), in coalition with Mercy Haven, gathered in Boksburg, Commissioner Street, as an initiative to raise awareness about domestic violence.

The two organisations handed out flyers and information booklet to the community about how victims of violence could get help and stop the abuse.

Mercy Haven’s auxilliary social worker, Sibongile Masilela, says they feel that the information could potentially help adults and children who are victims of domestic violence.

The representatives also encouraged women to report any cases of violence within the home and seek help from the Victim Empowerment Centre.
