According to Kobeli Mokheseng, spokesperson for the EMPD, 24 fines were issued to motorists for driving without their valid card driver’s licence.
Seven vehicles were impounded for not being roadworthy.
“Some 55 fines were issued for moving violations and a further 108 fines were issued for parking and stopping offences.”
He adds that 184 pedestrians and motorists were stopped and searched in the CBD, industrial sites, suburbs and at informal settlements.
“Five fines were issued to motorists operating certain motor vehicles which fall under public transport, for failing to display/carry a certificate of fitness,” says Mokheseng.
There were 15 accidents in the area, of which one resulted in a serious injury and the remainder in damages only.
