School receives replica cake for birthday

Paul Vieira, owner of Cake Extreme, baked a replica cake of St Dominic’s School for Girls for the school’s 90th birthday.

The base of the cake was made from vanilla sponge, infused with syrup to add extra moisture, with a butter cream icing.

“Using Google images and photographs provided by the school, I made a replica of the school, the buildings were made out of polystyrene,” says Paul.

The cake took approximately three days to design, bake and put together, and was served to about 1 500 people at the school’s mass on Thursday.

“The details are very important to me, and I tried to put in as many details as possible.”

In addition to the 2.4m by 1.2m cake, Paul also baked 1 400 cupcakes which were served to the learners and staff on Friday.
