Cable theft causes power outages

Various parts of Boksburg recently experienced power outages due to the theft of feeder cables between Witfield sub and sub 128.

A multi-voltage cable was also stolen in Sunward Park earlier in July, which also caused a power outage in the area.

The CBD was also affected because of a theft of a cable close to McDonalds in Rondebult Road.

Due to the outages, many residents have expressed their concerns, saying they fear that load-shedding had been implemented without their knowledge.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality spokesperson, Sam Modiba, assures residents that no load-shedding has been implemented.

“The cables have been replaced and repaired,” says Modiba.
