Twelve armed men arrested in Dawn Park

Twelve men in possession of seven firearms have been arrested by the Dawn Park Police for attempted armed robbery.

According to W/O David Rafanyane of the Crime Prevention Unit in Dawn Park, police on duty on the night received a tip-off that the men were attempting to rob three targeted locations.

The targets were Plot 50 Peter Makola Truck Stop, the Highway Garage and the Zama Zama Supermarket in Dawn Park.

“These men have been harassing the community for months, and they are all from the township of Soweto. They have been linked to numerous robberies in the community. This is a huge breakthrough, and a huge relief for the Dawn Park Police Station,” said Rafanyane.

The men are in custody and are awaiting trial.
