The Dawn Park police recently arrested two men for possession of an unlicensed firearm and live ammunition.
According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Const Nkemeleng Mabula, when the police officers conducted their routine patrol along Barry Marais Road, they spotted a suspicious motor vehicle.
“The police searched the vehicle and discovered that one of the men was in possession of a firearm and live ammunition. Both men failed to produce a licence for the firearm,” Mabula said.
The firearm will be subjected to ballistic examination to determine whether or not it was involved in the commission of crime.
Dawn Park SAPS station commander Johannes Makhubo applauded the police officers for the arrest.
Both suspects will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
