The Freeway Park charity shop is located in the Outspan Shopping Centre and is open during the week and on Saturdays

Hospice East Rand is excited to announce that they are able to open their charity shops under lockdown level 4 regulations. They believe this is great news for shoppers looking for winter clothes with the early morning chill in the air.

The Freeway Park Charity Shop is located in the Outspan Shopping Centre (Shop 1B), Corner Constantia Road and Kingfisher Avenue, in Freeway Park, and will be open from 9am to 4pm during the week and from 9am to 12.30pm on Saturday.

Members of the public are welcome to contact 082 439 1652 for enquiries.

The shop officially opened its doors on May 6 for the first time since level 5 was announced to take strong precautionary measures to prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

No person will be allowed in the shop without a mask and there is hand sanitiser available for customers and staff members inside the shop.

“We have lots of winter clothing for sale at exceptionally affordable prices and we’re looking forward to assisting shoppers during this economic crisis we are all facing,” said Carla Steenkamp, who co-ordinates the Hospice East Rand charity shops.

The organisation’s bookshop, located at 157 Victoria Avenue, Western Extension, Benoni, will also be open between 9.30am and noon for those looking for something to read while isolating themselves during lockdown.

All books cost R5. The bookstore can be contacted on 011 422 1531.

These two charity shops are also welcoming donations from community members who have been cleaning out cupboards and storing the items for when we open.

Hospice East Rand is grateful for all your support and look forward to helping our community with cost effective clothing while entering winter.

The shops are significant to the organisation as they bring in a large percentage of funds that helps to them to take care of their patients.
