Community project in Sunward Park fill empty stomachs
A community project supports the needy in Sunward Park during the lockdown.
Wendy Skeens, assisted by Makopano Solutions Group, Graphite Security, S.W.S Security, Ward 43 Clr Bruce Reid and other community members, handed out delicious soup and bread to approximately 20 people in Kingfisher Avenue on April 13.
Furthermore, they gave out masks and sprayed the people’s hands with hand sanitiser to protect them against the virus.
Police officers also turned up to ensure that everybody was adhering to the lockdown rules.
The organiser explained they are aiming to feed these people every Monday and Thursday.
“We noticed some people in our community have been without food for days now due to their inability to continue with survival activities, like selling items for recycling. We merely want to assist them by providing a decent meal to them,” Wendy explained.
She expressed her gratitude to everybody supporting the initiative and appealed to community members to contribute towards the initiative.
Anybody wishing to donate may contact Wendy on 083 378 4882.
