
Armed robberies
• A resident of Kingfisher Place in Arnold Segel Street, Sunward Park, was robbed of R200 000 after withdrawing it from a local bank on March 4.
According to the police statement, the woman withdrew the money from the FNB branch at Kingfisher Corner. As she was about to reach Kingfisher Place in her bakkie, a man, described as an African male, appeared and pointed a gun at her. He asked her to lie down and then took the bag containing the money.
The robber also took her bank cards, which he used to withdraw another R20 700 from the victim’s bank accounts.
• Armed thugs stormed the offices of M Pienaar Inc Attorneys on Rondebult Road and robbed one of the employees and helped themselves to the contents of the offices on March 3. They grabbed the woman’s wristwatch, cellphone and the ring on her finger before stealing a Dell laptop from the office.
• An Angelo informal settlement tenant’s belongings were stolen by his landlord who threatened him with a firearm. According to the police report, the tenant was in his shack when the landlord arrived at about 9pm on February 28 and pointed a firearm at him and asked him to move out.
The landlord then reportedly took the tenant’s pair of Nike sneakers, two pants, two T-shirts, headphones, food and other items.
Burglaries
• In Plantation, thieves forced their way into a residential property on Cedar Avenue and stole a TV set while the homeowner was asleep on March 3.
• Thieves forced their way into Galation Trading Enterprises on Rondebult Road and stole goods sometimes between February 28 and March 2. They forcefully opened the door to gain entry and stole a router, clothes, kettle and other items.
• On February 27, thieves forced their way into a property on Van Den Heever Circle and stole a TV set, laptop, spanners, cigarettes and other items.
• A Comet resident woke up on February 27 to find thieves had stolen his employer’s motorcycle which he had parked outside the house in New Married Quarters.
• In Parkrdand, thieves forced their way into a residential property on Krige Street and stole valuable goods on February 24. To gain entry, the thieves forcefully opened one of the doors, and then stole a TV set, computer and a cellphone.
