Boksburg Library ceiling repairs delayed by two more months
The library’s adult section has been closed for more than a year because the roofing structure collapsed in February 2019 during the heavy summer rains.
The construction work to repair the damaged portion of the Boksburg Library ceiling has been delayed and the project is most likely to cost more than the originally approved R1 454 044.
The main contractor, Grandma Services, began construction work on the project on November 22, and the initial projected completion date was December 21.
The Ekurhuleni metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, on January 27 confirmed that the contractors have failed to deliver on the original target date set, and the project’s new timeline is end of February – two months later than initially expected.
It’s also unclear as to how much work has been done so far and how behind schedule the project is.
With the original completion date arrived and gone, there are still plenty of questions around how the a month-long construction project on the library fell so far behind.
It’s also unclear as to how much the project is going to cost additionally.
