Una celebrates her 90th birthday

Looking back on her life, Una said that she wouldn’t have done anything differently.

Una Chambers, a resident of SAVF Huis Dien Bothma in Boksburg, was showered with love and presents when she celebrated her 90th birthday on January 21.

The birthday girl was born in Salisbury (now Harare) and attended a convent school.

Una was a skilful teacher and was also a lecturer at a university in her day.

The main subjects she taught were Latin and English.

Cheerful and full of life, Chambers said that her friends and religion are what keep her motivated.

“The Lord has blessed me in many ways. I had been given health to do His work. What’s exciting is being able to pass the blessing on to others so that they receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and saviour,” Una explained.

“I’ve lived in two centuries and walked through an interesting history. I experienced all sides of life, the sweet and sour.”

Her hobbies include poetry, writing and evangelising.

She is also the first person at Newlife Church to reach this milestone age.
