A former Boksburg resident is now in need of donations to help bury her beloved aunt with dignity.

According to Rechael Tamine, who lived in Boksburg for 12 years, her aunt, Hilda Magdelena van der Merwe (50), died in hospital on January 1 after being assaulted in her Eikenhof home on December 24.

“My aunt was assaulted and was stabbed with a broken bottle in the throat. She was taken to the hospital, but unfortunately passed away on New Year’s,” said an emotional Tamine.

She said that van der Merwe’s family is broken to the core.

“It’s so unreal. My aunt was such as lovely woman.”

She added that the family is now appealing for financial contributions towards a cremation ceremony, due to problems concerning van der Merwe’s policy.

“Any contribution will be highly appreciated. Unfortunately, her family can’t do anything as they’re unable to access her policy. If we don’t do anything soon, the government will cremate her.”

According to Tamine, her aunt was a religious woman, who was always willing to help people,

Tamine added that her aunt will be dearly missed and leaves behind a daughter, son and grandchildren.
