School gets a new principal

Mary-Ann van Eeden has been appointed as principal of Freeway Park Primary School.

Van Eeden started her teaching career 22 years ago at the school.
In 2004, she was appointed as the acting head of department (HOD) for cultural activities, academic HOD in 2005 and in 2007, she was appointed as deputy principal.
According to her, as principal she wants to create a happy leaning environment that is safe and secure and conducive to optimal learning and achievement.
“My vision is to sustain the functionality aspect of our school in all spheres, which include academics, sport, cultural and parental involvement and to retain and appoint the best quality staff,” says van Eeden.
Ronel Groenewald is the newly-appointed deputy principal at the school.
She has worked at Freeway Park Primary School since 2004, and was appointed as academic HOD in 2008.
