Power outages in Bardene, Beyers Park due to faulty cable

Residents experienced intermittent power outages between Wednesday and Friday morning, this week.

A feeder power cable fault resulted in almost three-day-long massive power outages in Bardene and Beyers Park.

According to Clr Ruhan Robinson, on Wednesday the feeder cables experienced a fault, which meant the power station could not energise some of its supply areas.

Some of the affected residents took to social media to vent their frustration, with others speculating that the problem was due to a cable damaged by construction workers installing fibre optic cables in the area, and others mistook these outages for loadshedding.

Robinson, however, dismissed claims, saying the outages had nothing to do with the construction.

Power has now (Friday morning) been restored to both suburbs.
