Boksburg North SAPS station commander Col Khumbulani Mbatha has condemned the killing of two young men whose bodies were found floating in the Witfield dam on the morning of October 10.
Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube said the men’, both 20, were discovered by community members floating in the dam. They were believed to be friends.
“The two bodies were found handcuffed together, with one of the bodies sinking in the dam while the other one couldn’t be seen clearly. Preliminary investigation revealed that the men were allegedly beaten up and thrown in the water,” Ramaube said.
Ramaube said one of the deceased had three open wounds inflicted to his head.
The stepfather of one of the deceased alleged his son went missing on October 7. He started looking for him the following day, and reported the matter at the Germiston SAPS.
“The stepfather further said he was told by the dead man’s cousin on October 8 that his son had phoned him on October 7 at around 9pm telling him he was allegedly arrested by security officers around the dam. The cousin alleged that since then he never heard anything from him,” Ramaube said.
