Local model wins luxury cruise

Aspiring models from Figures Models Boksburg showed their talent when they recently competed in the Figures Finesse International Model of the year competition at the Roodepoort Theatre.

A total of 112 contestants representing 15 Figures Models franchises from all over the country contested.

Lebo Cembi snatched the crown in her nine- to 12-year-old division. At 1.69m tall. it is no wonder she is mistaken for a teenager. This towering pre-teen, however, is just 11 years old.

She won an all-expenses-paid luxury cruise (Figures Project Aim Convention) in March next year to Pemba, Mozambique, for the second year running.

Cembi said: “I am happy to win again and my mother is ecstatic to be going on an all-paid holiday again.”

Owner of Figures Models Boksburg Sandra Theron-Swanepoel said Lebo is a determined model with a lot of potential.

“She has gained a lot of self-confidence and I am truly proud to see her grow and to have achieved what she has at such a young age.”

Juanté Koekemoer (12) was the runner-up to Lebo and will receive a 50 per cent discount (the value of approximately R8 250) to participate in the Figures Project Aim Convention.

“She is very excited about her prize and did not expect to come in second place,” said Sandra.

“Not only is Juanté tall and beautiful, she also has a heart of gold. Despite her busy schedule, she still makes time to attend her classes at Figures.”

Makesha George (16) came in second place at the Figures Finesse International Model of the Year pageant in the M5 division (13 to 21 years).

She also received a 50 per cent discount to participate in the Figures Project Aim Convention.

“She is in heaven about her prize as it’s her dream to become an international model,” said Sandra.

“Makesha is an outgoing, fashionable girl and I think she’ll be able reach her dream.

“I’m so proud of all the models. A final is difficult as you don’t always know what they’re looking for.”

On board of the luxury cruise, the models will compete in seven different competitions, as well as attend workshops and seminars, where they will have an opportunity to meet with agents from various countries.

They will also stand a chance to win a trip to New York.
