Metro responds to electricity problems in Champion Street
The electricity problems have been going on for about three weeks now.

The Advertiser recently received a complaint about electricity that keeps on tripping in Champion Street, Cason.
According to the resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, the electricity problems have been going on for about three weeks now.
He said that they were left with approximately two hours of electricity a day and that it was affecting nine houses.
“We have been struggling with electricity for almost a month. I struggled to report it but later on I managed to get a reference number.
“Ekurhuleni metro usually comes out to reset it but it’s not a permanent solution,” said the resident.
Themba Gadebe, the City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson, said that the metro was not aware of the problem as it was not timeously reported to them.
“There were two incidents, one of a cable theft and the vandalism of the mini-substation by stealing all the cables and earth wiring,” said Gadebe.
“When it was reported, it was attended to immediately. All the repairs were done and electrical supply was normalised.”
