Foster children enjoy fun day and spoils at church
The church has been running an event for the past 10 years, twice a year, to brighten up the lives of children.
The Dutch Reformed Church Boksburg Park treated children from across Boksburg to lunch and a host of fun activities on June 29.
This year’s children’s fun event, held at the church’s premises in Libradene, was attended by 70 children from foster homes, as well as several foster parents.
A group of children from Sunward Christian Academy and members of the congregation were also in attendance to help the little ones enjoy their special day.
The children were having so much fun during the event, where they were entertained by a clown, had their faces painted, attended a church service, enjoyed delicious food and received gifts.

This event was made possible by the support of generous church members and local businesses, which sponsored various items. These good corporate citizens include Pick and Pay and Jansen Butchery.
According to the coordinator-cum-founder of the project, Francois de Villiers, the church has been running this children’s event for the past 10 years. It’s held twice a year.
De Villiers thanked all those who continuously lent their support to the project.
She said the Dutch Reformed Church Boksburg Park had been involved in a number of community outreach projects.
These include the church’s recent donation of 600 teddy bears to the Johannesburg-based Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children.
