Three die from apparent carbon monoxide inhalation while on construction site

The three deceased were said to have been fitting tiles.

The Boksburg North police are appealing to the community to help them find the family of three deceased men who allegedly died from carbon monoxide inhalation while at work in North Rand Road.

The bodies were discovered on June 16 around 7am at a new fast food franchise building which is under construction.

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the bodies were discovered by a security guard who alerted the police.

“Upon preliminary investigations it is alleged that due to the cold weather the deceased used a petrol generator which could have been the cause of the death.”

Ramaube said the doors and windows were closed, which revealed the deceased might have inhaled the carbon monoxide which derives from the generator.

“We are appealing to the community to help us locate the relatives of the deceased. The police have opened an inquest case,” Ramaube said.

Anyone with information that can assist the police may contact them on 086 001 0111 or the Boksburg North SAPS station commander, Col Khumbulani Mbatha, on 082 319 0034 or Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Ramaube on 071 675 6988.
