Netcare 911 responded to reports of a serious collision on the corner of Bird Road and Robert Road in Lilianton just after midnight on Sunday morning.
According to Shawn Herbst, media liaison officer, reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a light motor vehicle lost control crashing into a tree.
“Paramedics assessed the scene and found two occupants in the vehicle, both males in their early twenties,” said Herbst.
“One of the occupants sustained fatal injuries and was declared deceased on the scene, the second patient had sustained moderate injuries.”
