Trichardts Road bridge out of service until June 20
The closure follows the identification of the bridge as a problem area during rainy seasons due to the under-capacity of the culverts crossing which causes flooding to the surrounding area.

The Trichardts Road bridge, which has been out of service since April 11, will be closed until June 20.
Metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe said the work to upgrade the Trichardts Road culverts to minimise flooding on the road began in June 2018.
“Due to the complexity of the project, the construction period of one year was adopted, with the initial plan being to maintain a two-way traffic during the construction period,” said Gadebe.
“This has been achieved from June to early April. However, due to inclement weather and flooding, the road deviation has encountered structural damage.
“As a result of this damage, the road deviation is unsafe for the public. Hence, for safety reasons, a decision was taken to close Trichardts Road from Dr Vosloo Road to Leith Road until June 20 to protect the public while work continues,” Gadebe said.
Gadebe urged the residents to be patient for the duration of the project, and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
Alternative routes: Motorist can navigate to Leith Road through Yaldwyn Road.
