Overflowing drain an apparent danger to the environment
The matter has been reported to the metro without success.
An overflowing drain in Trichardts Road in the vicinity of Sunward Park is apparently damaging the environment as human waste is flowing into the vlei.
This is according to Wayne Draper, a resident who noticed the overflowing drain nearly a month ago.
The resident claimed that he tried to report it several times but couldn’t get through to the metro.
“It can’t go on like this. I’m aware of the fact that it is nearly impossible to see the overflowing drain when driving past it with a motor vehicle and this is why I wanted to report it.
“I noticed because I walk in that direction nearly every day now. It is heart-breaking to see that something like this is happening so close to me. It is totally unacceptable that nothing is being done to fix this problem,” said Draper.
“I have contacted the metro on contact numbers that are available on the internet. Unfortunately, I was still unable to report the issue. It is really frustrating.
“I want it be fixed because I care about the condition of the environment and all the living creatures in our community. It could be harmful to the birds in the surrounding area. People don’t always care about animals.
“This issue needs to be resolved as soon as possible as it will only get worse.”
The Advertiser is still waiting for comment from the metro and it is unclear when this problem will be attended to.
