Delmore’s plea for help answered

The victims are still in need of help in terms of corrugated iron, school uniforms and toiletries.

The plea for donations to help Delmore informal settlement shack fire victims didn’t fall on deaf ears.

Good Samaritans from all around Boksburg responded to the call by donating clothes, food and toiletries to the 65 affected families.

The families from the settlement lost all their belongings when a fire broke out on March 29.

More than 45 shacks were burnt beyond recognition in the early hours of the morning.

Since the incident, the 65 families have been sleeping in their neighbours’ houses and others at the hall.

Ward committee leader Sizwe Hlatswayo said the donations they received from generous people helped affected families a lot.

“We have received donations of blankets, adult and baby clothes, shoes and food.

“We thank everyone who generously made it their burden to support and donate to the affected families,” Hlatswayo said.

To assist the families, contact Hlatswayo on 082 396 4342.
