Call for firearm owners to visit police station as gun store is closed down

Following the closure, Boksburg North SAPS communications officer Const Justice Ramaube said the owners of the firearms need to bring in their firearms licences as well as their firearms.

The Boksburg North SAPS is appealing to anyone who bought a firearm or booked in a firearm at Limpopo Arms and Ammunition to urgently go to the Boksburg North SAPS.

This comes after the Boksburg North SAPS Firearm Register Unit closed down the Limpopo gun shop on March 25.

A total of 347 weapons were removed from the shop for safekeeping.

“The reason for the closure was that the registers were not up to date and the owner of the shop allegedly owes the landlord six to seven months in rent.

“Furthermore, the owner failed to produce a permit to sell firearms despite being given enough time to provide documents,” he said.

Ramaube said anyone who booked in their firearms at the weapons shop or bought weapons must immediately go to the police with their relevant documents.

“For those who booked in their firearms with the weapons shop, they are given one month’s notice to come forward to collect them,” Ramaube said.

Three suspects allegedly robbed the weapons shop at around 9am on February 13 near the Pick n Pay Towers.
