Foreigner arrested for producing fraudulent asylum papers

Three fake R100 notes were also found in the possession of the suspect

 

A Nigerian national was detained at Boksburg North police station and  charged with possession of fake bank notes and a fraudulent papers.

This is after the EMPD SWAT team members noticed a suspicious Hyundai Getz while on routine patrol in Boksburg North on the morning of Monday, April 1.

According to chief superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, the Getz was stopped and the driver requested to produce a driving license.

“The male driver failed to provide a valid license but instead produced asylum seekers temporary permit.

“On searching the driver the SWAT members came across fake R100 notes. The man was immediately arrested and taken to Boksburg North police station.

 

Kgasago said upon closer inspection of the asylum papers, the metro police realized it displayed wrong spellings.

The document was taken to Home Affairs officials who confirmed it was fake.

He was expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
