Crime prevention is everybody’s business

The CPF encourages the public to look out for their neighbours and inform helpers to be alert and wary of strangers.

The Boksburg North Sector One CPF took a meet-and-greet session to the streets recently.

It was a day of great fun and interaction. Children had a blast on a jumping castle supplied by Mamba Security while parents met the volunteers who fight for their safety.

Local businesses like Pretty Tough entertained the crowd with self-defence demonstrations.

Classic hits like I Want It That Way from the Backstreet Boys were especially appreciated by fans of the TV series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

The community also donated blood and was rewarded with a fun-filled colour fest.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS, the crime rate has gone significantly down with the help of the CPF.

“The CPF is always willing to give us information and thanks to them we can respond to a crime scene much faster,” said Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Const Ntsako Ledwaba.

The public is encouraged to invest in a CPF radio as they can receive an immediate response at the touch of a button. Email crnsector1@gmail.com for more information.

One of the event organisers, Sector One CPF’s Rene Marais, described the event as a success. She said it was a great opportunity for the community to get together.
