How to report the nuisance of barking dogs
The SPCA also urges the community to call the municipality to collect any dead carcasses on, or at, the side of the road.

The Boksburg SPCA urges the public to contact their local municipality for complaints against owners who have dogs who consistently bark (for no apparent reason) during the day and night, and not the SPCA.
According to Maggie Mudd, Boksburg SPCA manager, this offence is a violation of the metro’s bylaws and does not fall under the SPCA’s jurisdiction.
“We are unable to issue any fines or remove any dog simply because the animal is barking.
According to Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, a query of a nuisance complaint (barking dogs) must first be directed to 011 458 0911.
” It should go through this number so that it is recorded, reference number to be issued, before an official is dispatch to attend to the complaint,” Gadebe said.
Regarding if an animal has been knocked by a vehicle and is still alive, Mudd urged the community to contact the SPCA on 011 916 5906/7 during the day or 083 763 6311 anytime after 4.30pm and a driver will be sent out to collect the injured animal.
For collection of carcasses contact 011 999 5446 / 6277/5310 and 5070.
