A ‘meaty’ accident as runaway delivery van crashes into wall

The driver's attempt to gain control of the truck proved futile.

A distraught driver had to watch helpless as the delivery truck carrying meat crashed into a house perimeter wall on the afternoon of November 8.

Homeowner Almero Oosthuizen heard a loud noise as the truck crashed into the wall surrounding his property in 25A Olivia Road.

Meat was flung out of the truck and landed onto the pavement.

According to the driver, he was delivering meat to the Square shopping centre and left the truck idling at the delivery bay while he went to get the documentation to offload the meat.

The truck then started running forward down the road.

No one was injured on the scene.
