Audio: Start young to make a success of age
"Being in your old age is the best chapter in people’s lives, although it’s the most difficult phase to master" - Elma Vertue
The East Rand Business Women held their last meeting before the anticipated end of the year gala breakfast.
The invited guest speaker for October was Elma Vertue, who is a facilitator and trainer at Senior Mind Moves.
The monthly meeting took place at Summer Place on October 10.
Vertue left no stone unturned as she educated and inspired women to age gracefully with positivity in participating in energising activities to keep the mind and body active.
“As we grow older, we often get caught up in survival behaviour causing our emotions and thoughts to become hazy,” said Vertue.
“This leaves us feeling lost, vulnerable and helpless; and as a result, one’s confidence wobbles. Fred Astaire said that age is like everything else. If you want to make a success of it, you have to start young.
“Even though there are guests here from 35 to 65 years and older, Senior Mind Moves can improve your memory, your sense of touch which has an effect on your general well-being and state of mind.
“We are all going to become much older than our predecessors. Do you want to sit on the patio for the next 30 years?”
In between her presentation she conducted her calming movement exercises and the women stood up to participate.
