Penguin Room filled with stories about the Queen of Sheba

The fun filled morning came to an end with tea, snacks and lovely company.

The Creative Art Centre’s Penguin Room hosted another interesting morning on August 30.

Parkdene resident Edward Coote shared some of his life experiences and memories regarding his 10-year acquaintance and working with the Empress of the African Royal Kingdoms, Queen Shebah III.

Coote is the ambassador of southern Africa at the African Continent Kingdoms Federation and is also a corporate social investment consultant.

Coote was born in the United Kingdom in 1931 and became a South African citizen in 1964.

Ross Meyer won the quiz and received a painting by Barry de Villiers. Werner Hendriks handed over her prize.

He harbours a lot of knowledge and experience with several southern African tribes.

Coote explained more about the legend of the Queen of Sheba that dates back thousands of years and which is also accounted in the Bible.

He shared stories about his work relationship and friendship with the current queen, whom he describes as someone who does not like to be argued with, and even more so “she is fascinating”.

Guests were baffled on some of the quiz questions.

Coote said there is a possibility Queen Shebah will be visiting South Africa later this year.

“Part of my tasks is to bring the queen up to speed with socio-economic and political factors in southern Africa.

This is the second time Coote gave a speech in the Penguin Room, which has recently been revamped.

There were delicious snacks and tea served to guests.

Coote’s talk was followed by a 60 question quiz of general knowledge and facts about things all over the world, including questions such as who was the first Anne Hathaway, what nationality was Picasso and what is the colour of Amethyst.
