Miss High School SA strives to set a good example

The pageant aims to identify bright, young individuals as ambassadors to represent high school students in South Africa in various initiatives, and to support the Girl Power Foundation.

A radiant Lerice Lyle was crowned Miss High School SA 2017 in December last year.

The 18-year-old, who hails from Boksburg and matriculated last year from Hoërskool Elspark, was deputy head girl, captain of her schools first girls’ hockey team, a top 10 academic learner. Throughout her schooling career, she has always been a top achiever.

Her life hasn’t been easy soon after birth. She lived in a children’s home before her aunt obtained custody. Two years later she was raised by her grandparents.

Lyle said she has learnt to take all life’s challenges with a pinch of salt and lives her life by the following scripture, “I command you be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”.

Lyle  has made it a point to help the needy, and her main initiative during her reign as Miss High School SA was to organise a Girl Power walk to raise funds and awareness for the Girl Power Foundation.

The pageant is organised and hosted by GEES! Entertainment (www.geesent.com).
