Child dies after car crashes into bicycle

No arrests have been made yet.

A five-year-old child died on August 5 after being hit by a vehicle in North Rand Road.

This was confirmed by Capt Juanita Coetzer, communications officer at Boksburg North SAPS.

“At 6.53pm, an EMPD officer received a call of a pedestrian-vehicle accident,” said Coetzer

“When he arrived on the scene, he found a cyclist on the ground, with the little boy lying next to the road.”

According to Coetzer, the injured cyclist was taken to Tambo Memorial Hospital.

“It seems like the cyclist was giving the little boy a lift on the bicycle when the car hit them.”

The vehicle involved was towed. Investigations are underway.
