South Africans see red
On Friday, July 27, people across South Africa got to witness the “Blood Moon” as well as a glimpse of Mars.

This was the longest “Blood Moon” phase of the century, lasting one hour and 43 minutes, although the entire celestial event lasted nearly four hours.
The next lunar eclipse that South Africans will be able to view will only occur again in the year 2025.
We asked the public to send in their view of this spectacular moment. Here are some of the photos submitted.
