Scores of local organisations and individuals spent their time carrying out a variety of charitable acts to mark International Mandela Day and the birthday of the late anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela in Boksburg on July 18.
To celebrate Mandela Day, a team from Ravenswood-based law firm Tuckers Inc visited Tswelopele Pre-school and Crèche in Angelo informal settlement where they spent their time lending a helping hand.

A team from the Centurion- based Landis+Gyr spent time at a Reiger Park crèche, Mathew Ukhozi Foundation, where they performed good deeds for the more than 400 children.
Ward 32 Councillor Marius de Vos in collaboration with his team of ward committee members organised a Mandela Day celebration event for the different communities in the ward. The event held at the Boksburg Civic Centre, was attended by residents of Cinderella hostel, Boksburg South and Andries Scribante Haven in Cason. Blankets were handed out.
Painting one of the classes at Windmill Park Primary School are members from the Boksburg Correctional Services Centre with members from Sanlam (Boksburg).
Members of the CPF covering Sector 3 and 4 shared smiles and kind words with elderly members of Huis Dien Bothma and Witfield Park on Mandela Day. The CPF, along with the Boksburg North SAPS, handed out muffins and cupcakes. Seen here are (from left) Byron Blignaut, Zelda Nienaber, Clinton Festraets, Mark Gilpin and Leticia Festraets.
The Boksburg North SAPS along with talented singers from Hoerskool Dr EG Jansen are smiling outside of Huis Dien Bothma after entertaining and conversing with the elderly. They also visited Witfield Park.
Members from Crane Worldwide Logistics was one of the companies that celebrated Nelson Mandela’s 100th birthday at Mpumelelo Day Care Centre in Windmill Park.
The Boksburg Correctional Services Centre in partnership with Sanlam (Boksburg) spent their 67 minutes for Mandela at Windmill Park Primary School.
