Water goes to waste in Ravenswood

Residents claim they had to call the municipality several times to see how far they were because they were worried that the city’s clean drinking water was being wasted and flooding the streets.

Cathkin Street in Ravenswood was recently reportedly partially submerged in water after a water pipe burst, causing massive water loss.

Boet Fourie, whose house is located a few metres from the affected pipe, said he noticed water gushing out of the burst pipe and flowing down the road.

Fourie said he as a concerned citizen played his part and reported the fault to the metro.

He and other residents are, however, upset that municipal water technicians only attended to the fault about eight hours after the pipe burst was reported to the call centre.

No comment received from the metro at the time of going to press.
