Kedibone Makgosa (30) of Angelo was sentenced to six months imprisonment for stealing a packet of underwear and lotion from the Jet store on Commissioner Street, Boksburg CBD.
The sentence was wholly suspended for five years.
Makgosa stole the pack of three Bear underwear and Nivea Man face crème worth R167.98 from the store on May 3.
He pleaded guilty and found guilty on May 30 on a charge of theft.
The accused has a 2011 possession of suspected stolen goods conviction.
Magistrate Hans Havenga presided and prosecutor Tashnee Ramchuran represented the state.
