Eskom has confirmed by this morning (Friday) that the power supply is stable, but if it remains so depends how the rest of the day develops in terms of the strike.
By yesterday afternoon, at around 5pm, large parts of the country were plunged into darkness due to load shedding, as nationwide strike action from the energy firm’s employees crippled the electricity network.
There was no load shedding beyond 8pm.
Electricity has been restored in all areas.@Eskom_SA would like to thank you for helping us keeping the power system stable.
Please continue to use electricity sparingly and to switch off non-essential appliances.@Eskom_SA apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Eskom have blamed “acts of sabotage” for the power disruptions. Their decision to refuse a wage increase sparked industrial action earlier in the day.
By yesterday evening, Eskom managed to get a court interdict that bans three of its workers’ unions from going on strike.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), the National Union of Metalworkers (Numsa) and Solidarity can no longer legally encourage their members to protest.
