Damelin student writes poetry book about love experiences

This book brims with provocative insights meant to bring about healing to deep-seated emotional wounds bruised by broken hearts.

Damelin Boksburg student, Tsholofelo Ngubeni has written a book, The Plethora Of Love Paradigms.

The 21-year-old ambitious young woman from Vosloorus is completing her final year of a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Business Management Degree.

In an interview conducted by Damelin College, this is what the young author had to say.

  • Please tell us a little more about the book.

The Plethora Of Love Paradigms is an emotionally provocative yet intellectually stimulating poetry book about love experiences many young people go through in search of love.

This inspirational poetic book unpacks uncommon syllables of how the masses across the globe can be catapulted from the convictions of an ordinary life of complacency and mediocrity to the realm of understanding the matters of the heart.

  • What inspired you to write this book?

As a student doing research in the BCom Marketing and Business management degree, I have always been fascinated by literature and research-based writings.

I’m currently working on a dissertation (research project) supervised by Dr Donald Mahlangu and mentored by Frequency Nkomo (my academic manager) who has authored more than 21 books during his career.

It is this optimum combination of wealth of knowledge and experience that gave me insight into the world of research writing.

Realising the passion and the God-given talent I have in research, I eventually decided to write a book in a language that will inspire thousands of young people across the globe.

  • In consideration of your academic book, what role do you think education plays in shaping the destinies of young people today?

Just like Nelson Mandela coined, “Education is the most powerful weapon in this world”, I also consider education to be the most significant tool available to every young people to change the world. It is through education that we get to impact the world in its entirety.

  • It’s not a common thing for a student to write a book, especially in South Africa. What’s your take on this?

Yes, it’s rare for a student to write a book especially considering my academic background. But one thing for sure is that if you relentlessly pursue your passion and God-given talents, anything is possible. As enshrined in our constitution, I believe that every young person should pursue his or her God-given talents especially in the arena of book writing which for ages has been labelled as a no-go area. As young South Africans, we need to operate within the confines of our constitutional rights by unleashing our potentials and realise our talents. I’m a living testimony to this reality.

  • Who is your target market for the book?

My target market is young people and especially those who are still in school, who have a hunger to explore genuine love adventures through poetic writings.

  • Do you think poetry as a genre is a powerful way of decoding emotions?

As I have contended in the book, poetry is the food of love. Poetry is one of the most powerful genres of expressing deep emotions, feelings and aspirations about a given phenomenon.

It is through poetry that deep feelings of love can be expressed.

There are so many things which can be expressed in the language of poetry, which ordinary words are limited to express and love is one of them.
