17-year-old’s body found three day after being reported missing

Tshidisang Mesere’s body was discovered by a passerby.

A body of a 17-year-old girl from Villa Liza was found near the Rooikraal dumping site in Windmill Park on May 30 after she went missing on May 26.

According to Tshidisang’s sister-in-law, Mamoshoeshoe Mesere, the 17-year-old lived in Soweto and only came to Villa Liza on weekends to visit her brother.

“She came to visit on May 24 and on Saturday morning she woke up, bathed and made tea for everyone in the house. She then said she’s going to visit some of our family members that live in Villa Liza.

“She came back and bathed her brother’s two children and after around 3pm she said she’s going to visit a friend in Holomisa.”

Mesere said around 8pm when she saw that it was getting late, she sent a message to someone she knows in Holomisa who lives next door to where Tshidisang was supposed to visit.

“I was told that she didn’t arrive in Holomisa. At around noon on May 27 I went to Holomisa to ask around if they saw Tshidisang but no one saw her.

“Later that day, my husband went to the Dawn Park Police Station to report that Tshidisang is missing,” Mesere said.

The sister-in-law said on May 30 they received the sad news that Tshidisang’s body was found in an open veld.

According to Constable Nkemeleng Mabula from Dawn Park SAPS, the girl was reported missing on May 27 after she left the house to visit a friend.

A case of inquest has been opened and the case is still under investigation.

No suspects have been arrested so far.
