Just in: One suspect arrested as hijack in Beyers Park is foiled

The hunt for the other accomplishes are underway.

A male suspect has been arrested after an attempted hijacking on the corner of Bartlett and North roads, Boksburg North, was foiled.

Capt Juanita Coetzer, communications officer at the Boksburg North SAPS, confirmed that a hijacking attempt was witnessed by a member of a local security company this afternoon, June 1, in Beyers Park.

“The member pursued the suspect in the security company vehicle and the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another vehicle in Elizabeth Road,” said Coetzer.

The SAPS cornered the suspects, who fled on foot, in Ridge Road.

One suspect has been arrested.

No one was seriously injured and more details around the incident and the investigation will follow.
