Local chamber of commerce eyeing to train entrepreneurs
In partnership with the Dynamic Business StartUp Programme, ACCIP will assess entrepreneurs through an online E-test, which highlights their areas of strengt

The Aerotropolis Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Publicity (ACCIP) is looking for potential entrepreneurs.
According to Derek Fox, CEO of the chamber, the candidates will then be trained and receive support in their own businesses which will create sustainable jobs in Ekurhuleni.
“Participants of the online E-test who score 60 per cent and above will be invited to participate in a 13 module entrepreneur course which will run over 13 weeks and give them a phenomenal hand up into being a business owner.
One of the recent course participants had this to say: “I spent three years studying a business qualification at a well-known university yet I learned more from this entrepreneurs course in three months.”
Fox said matriculants who are not sure of what they are going to do after passing matric should take this test.
“The E-test will highlight their strengths and how to harness such strengths. For instance, should someone’s profile show a strong tendency to be employed, then they know they should rather study hard and get good grades to get into university.
“The other option does not let them study less hard but as a strong candidate for being in business for themselves, should they want to go to university, they would focus on business-related studies.”
Fox said anyone who would like to know whether they have a reasonable chance of success in their own business can take the test.
“Anyone who shows a tendency to be an entrepreneur, the chamber is going to encourage to go on the entrepreneur course. We look to grow entrepreneurs and there business.”
Fox pointed out this test could even help learners who are about to go into Grade 10, which is a pivotal time in choosing the right subjects.
“After all, wrong subjects can influence career decisions. Surely if they had insight into where their strengths lay, it would provide valuable insight which can aid them in making the right choices.
“Not everyone is and can be a business owner and not everyone can and wants to be an employee, a quick test can change your life for the better.
“We are not looking to influence anyone’s plans unduly. As a chamber of commerce, we are looking to get business moving forward in the region.
“For this to happen we need to identify people who are entrepreneurs, who can start and manage businesses and who will, with the chamber’s support, be able to grow those businesses and employ the people of the region to reverse horrible unemployment statistics.”
The online test costs R200 per participant.
