Elderly man dragged 700m in Trichards Road

The police has confirmed that a docket of culpable homicide has been opened

A victim of an apparent hit and run passed away in the early hours of Saturday (May 19).

The man (63, his name known to the Advertiser) was hit by a vehicle along Trichards Road, near the fuel station, just after midnight on May 19.

According to the victim’s niece, he was dragged for about 700m up to Edgar Road where the vehicle apparently sped away.

“We understand a second vehicle also drove over him without stopping.”

Capt Juanita Coetzer, communications officer of the Boksburg North Police Station, confirmed that the incident took place.

The man was struck along this part of the road in Boksburg.

“A docket of culpable homicide has been opened.” said Coetzer.

The case is still under investigation and more information will follow.
