The Advertiser is on scene at a scrapyard in Anderbolt where the police have just opened a drop safe which was found on the pavement near Meat Net, in Sydney Road, last week.
A crane was used to transport the 857kg safe to the scrapyard and cutting torches and hammers were used to open the safe, amid high anticipation of what might be inside.
The safe was found to be completely empty.
A staff member from East Rand Toyota contacted the Advertiser on Friday to inform us about the safe, saying their security guard had noticed it on the pavement earlier in the week already.
The Advertiser then alerted the police.
