Ekurhuleni metro police officers from the Public Order Policing Unit spotted in the morning a suspicious looking Volkswagen Golf parked at a block of flats in Thekwane Street on March 14 in the Vosloorus area.
A check revealed the car had been hijacked in Windmill Park and that a case had been opened.
EMPD officers entered the premises, which was unoccupied at the time, to conduct a closer inspection.
The abandoned Golf, which was intact, was impounded and taken to the SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni for further investigations and safe-keeping.
