The Ekurhuleni metro has confirmed that it finally repaired the damaged water hydrant in Wilson Street, Witfield, late last month.
The Advertiser recently reported that according to a concerned resident, John Mellitchey, the leaking hydrant was left to waste water for more than six years.
Mellitchey claimed that he first noticed the fault years ago and subsequently made numerous requests via email to the metro for the hydrant, which was gushing water, to be repaired.
