On the coldest day of every year, the St Dominic’s girls and staff plunge into icy water and swim the 25m length of their school swimming pool.
They call it the ‘Polar Plunge’, and the girls are encouraged to make a donation towards a worthy cause.
Recently, St Dominic’s donated the money they raised in last year’s Polar Plunge, along with some money raised by the primary school girls, to their adopted bears at the zoo, Tamu and Valentine.
These are endangered spectacled bears.
